MELODIC MINOR SCALE

In the Traditional Melodic Minor Scale, the 6th and 7th tones of the scale are raised 1/2 step when going up the scale, but return to the Natural Minor when going down the scale.  In contemporary usage, the Melodic Minor Scale is played the same way ascending and descending, a scale structure known as Jazz Melodic Minor.
